The Baltimore Ravens vastly improved their defense in free agency. After hiring Jesse Minter, that abysmal unit was already set to change, but now, it looks like a potentially dominant group ready to take shape.

One of their top moves of the offseason was signing Jaylinn Hawkins. The safety comes over to Charm City on a two-year, $10 million contract and will provide alignment versatility and strong play in all areas. Perhaps his biggest strength of all might come off the field, though.

It looks like Hawkins is making an attempt to lure a former teammate to Baltimore. In a recent Instagram post, free agent wideout Stefon Diggs asked, “Where we going?”

In response, Hawkins replied, “Come to Bmore though Cuzzo”. Diggs replied to that with a couple of eye emojis.

Baltimore Ravens’ offseason addition already trying to make impact off the field

Hawkins could be messing around. You tend to see that sort of thing when players see former teammates still sitting in free agency, looking for a new team. When a player of Diggs’ caliber is on the market, though, he demands plenty of attention.

It’s not like the Ravens haven’t been linked to Diggs this offseason. Baltimore has been a heavily-mocked landing spot for the 11-year veteran, and he’s certainly a talented weapon that would be worth the money on the field.

At his best, Diggs is one of the top wide receivers that the NFL has to offer. Even deep into his career, he’s still surpassing 1,000 yards on a pretty much yearly basis. However, he’s also a controversial player.

You’d definitely be taking a risk on Diggs if you were to add him to your locker room. His tenures with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills ended with a bad taste in the organizations’ mouths, leading to trades in both instances, and that’s not even including his off-the-field concerns.

The 32-year-old has run into some legal issues in the past year or so. He was found not guilty in a recent trial, but there remain character concerns. The talent is there for sure. However, is Diggs the type of player you’d want to add to a team under a first-year head coach and a very green coaching staff? Probably not.

To be honest, the Ravens don’t really need Diggs. They already have a two-time Pro Bowl wideout in Zay Flowers, and recently bulked up the room with 2026 NFL Draft selections Ja’Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt. Rashod Bateman, Devontez Walker, and LaJohntay Wester could make waves this season, too, so there’s really not much space for Diggs anyway.
