What does it say about your organization when a rookie has quickly become one of the biggest stories of your offseason? The Baltimore Ravens are seeing that unfold on their roster right now.
When the Ravens selected Vega Ioane in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the consensus was they had just hit a home run. He’s been praised as an NFL-ready guard with top-10 potential. It hasn’t taken long for Ioane to start proving those people right.
We’ve only just hit our first practice of Baltimore training camp, but pretty much since the initial moment Ioane stepped on the field, he’s been showered with praise. On Tuesday, that praise continued.
When asked about Ioane, veteran tackle Ronnie Stanley couldn’t help but be blown away by the rookie’s performance thus far.
“[Ioane’s] been great,” Stanley said. “I see everything I wanna see from a pro … He comes in, he’s all about his business. He looks like a seasoned vet out there. I’m not worried about him one bit.”

In a perfect world, Ioane scales the NFL learning curve extremely quickly. The Ravens could certainly use that, as their interior offensive line was simply horrendous in 2025. And although that’s a tall task to expect from a rookie, it sure sounds like it’s pretty feasible.
Everything we’ve heard about Ioane this offseason has been positive. It seems that he’s passing every test with the poise of a veteran, and with so much confidence already being poured into him, there’s a real possibility that he ends up being one of Baltimore’s best offensive linemen right out of the gates.
In his training camp debut, reports signaled that he looked solid out there. But pads haven't gone on just yet, so we'll have to wait for the real highlights next week.
It’s really fun to look at Ioane’s ceiling and dream about the possibilities his rookie season could hold, but to be honest, even his floor could tell a successful story in 2026. That floor should be pretty high. And if you had the misfortune of watching Baltimore’s offensive guards go to work in 2025, then you’d know just how much of a likely improvement Ioane will be, regardless of whether it's his best or bare minimum.
If Ioane continues to showcase that veteran mindset throughout camp and carries it into the regular season, the Ravens’ offense would obviously benefit greatly. We really haven’t ever seen a complete five-man line placed in front of Lamar Jackson throughout his Hall of Fame-caliber career. But with a line of Ronnie Stanley, John Simpson, Ethan Pocic, Vega Ioane, and Roger Rosengarten set to block for him in 2026, limitless damage could be done, especially if Ioane becomes the player everyone thinks he can be.
