He did what?

If you’re looking at the Baltimore Ravens’ 2026 NFL Draft, there are a few things that might have caught your eye. One, general manager Eric DeCosta once again won the draft. Two, Baltimore ignored their need for a center. Or three, and possibly the coolest, owner Steve Bisciotti, made his first pick in franchise history.

By now, we all know Bisciotti made the selection of Adam Randall in the fifth round at No. 174. While there’s been a lot of different opinions on the decision to let Bisciotti make the pick, the owner might know a thing or two about football. And if that’s somehow at all debated, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney’s tremendous reviews of his former running back have people sold.

What makes this so much cooler is Bisciotti’s scouting process. DeCosta said that he did a ton of research, and apparently, that includes hiring a SEAL Team 6 guy?

Baltimore Ravens’ Adam Randall pick looks way better with awesome Steve Bisciotti move

In an interview on The Ryan Ripken Show, Swiney mentioned that Bisciotti used SEAL Team 6 member to help gain intel on the character of some of the prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft.

“[Bisciotti] had a SEAL Team 6 guy that I guess he hired to do diligence on a bunch of people,” Swinney said. “He says 'I got this SEAL team 6 guy and he said out of 275 people he had Adam Randall ranked 3rd when it came to mental makeup, character, etc.’”

Absolutely wild stuff. Sure, everyone does research on a player’s character. You could say it’s the most important aspect of scouting. However, getting SEAL Team 6 involved is next-level stuff.

It shouldn’t come as a shock that Bisciotti is the one to pull this maneuver. After the firing of John Harbaugh, NFL fans got to see Bisciotti’s personality on full display, and this kind of fits what he’s all about. He really stays out of the public eye, but when he does make headlines, it tends to catch a lot of attention. He’s a fun owner.

His decision to study character as deeply as humanly possible also makes it crystal clear that the Ravens want to focus on bringing high-character guys. That’s been a constant throughout the organization’s history.

2025 felt like a shift away from that philosophy, though, as pretty much everything that could’ve gone wrong went wrong. As they enter a new era under Jesse Minter, players with an impressive makeup like Randall will be critical. He looks to be elite in that area.

If you haven’t bought into the Randall pick before, it might be time to start buying stock. Fans should love him.
