In the eyes of Roquan Smith, joint practices are like a second game. If that is the case, Mike Green has already shown out.
Green shut down the last drill of joint practice with a sack, one of a few impressive reps on the final drive. He has begun to stack good days of camp since the pads came on. With a new team in town - even in a joint practice session - Green continued to shine.

The joint practice wasn't a productive day for every Ravens defender, though, as Nate Wiggins ended his day early with a fight. The Ravens will have their chance to defend Wiggins in Thursday's preseason game.
The Ravens welcome the Indianapolis Colts to town to open the preseason. They will then travel to Dallas and Washington to close out the preseason. The Colts have announced that Anthony Richardson will start the game, while John Harbaugh noted that Baltimore's starters will not play.
Green should feature throughout the preseason, trying to earn regular-season snaps alongside veterans Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh. Recent mid-round picks Tavius Robinson and Adisa Isaac are also in the mix.
When Green suits up for the regular season, he should be eyeing the Ravens' rookie sack record. Terrell Suggs notched 12 sacks back in 2003, a mark that has been out of reach for the last 21 seasons of Baltimore rookie pass rushers. Since 2003, only Pernell McPhee (6.0 in 2011) has gotten even halfway to Suggs' sack tally. In recent seasons, Jaylon Ferguson (2.5 sacks in 2019) and Oweh (5.0 sacks in 2021) have had more modest contributions.
According to DraftKings, Green has 12-to-1 odds to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, ranking fourth in this class. First-round picks Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter, and Jalon Walker are ahead of Green. Ravens first-round pick Malaki Starks has 18-to-1 odds, tied for ninth on DraftKings' board.
Two Ravens have won the Defensive Rookie of the Year. In 1997, Peter Boulware took home the honors after an 11.5-sack season. Suggs' 12-sack rookie season secured him the award as well in 2003. In the last five seasons, only 2020 Patrick Queen (third-place) and 2024 Wiggins (11th-place) have received Defensive Rookie of the Year consideration.
