Ja'Kobi Lane somehow keeps adding to his Ravens training camp highlight reel

Ja’Kobi Lane is a monster. That’s all that needs to be said. The Baltimore Ravens rookie third-rounder has made jaw-dropping plays in training camp, and he’s not showing any signs of slowing down.

If anything, Lane is only picking up speed. He’s made Baltimore’s secondary look foolish over the past two weeks, as he’s showcased an elite ability to win contested catches. He’s becoming that above-the-rim receiver this team has lacked.

On Wednesday, Lane added two more highlights to what has been one of the best camp performances on the team.

One came from another deep shot while fending off physical coverage from T.J. Tampa.

And another came from what is being described as a “spinning 360 catch.”

At some point you have to ask the question: can anyone stop Lane?

Ja’Kobi Lane is looking like an unstoppable force at Baltimore Ravens training camp

Obviously it’s only training camp. We have to take these moments with a grain of salt because we see this all the time in the NFL. Players become training camp darlings just to disappoint or come back to earth when it’s time for the games that really matter—it’s a yearly thing.

What Lane’s doing is getting ridiculous, though. It shouldn’t be this easy, but from the moment camp started and the pads went on, he has been making insane grabs in pretty much every practice. Even the team’s top cornerbacks like Nate Wiggins and Marlon Humphrey have found themselves on the receiving end of Lane’s poster-worthy grabs.

Lamar Jackson has consistently looked Lane’s way in training camp, and time and time again, the rookie has not only risen to the occasion, but has made people go wide-eyed. His physicality, hands, ball tracking, body control…you name it, Lane has what it takes to win at the catch point.

It’s becoming abundantly clear that if you pair a 6-foot-4 target like Lane with a quarterback with outstanding ball placement like Jackson, you could have an unstoppable duo on your hands. Who would’ve thought? This is the kind of wide receiver that the two-time MVP has lacked for years, and it appears he finally has it.

At this point, no one is surprised by Lane’s daily camp feats—it’s honestly expected now. His biggest test is quickly closing in, though. Fans are convinced he can do the job in practice, but it’s the preseason people are looking toward next.

Lane is running with the first-team, so we don’t know how many reps he’ll truly get in preseason action. If it’s not a lot, then that’ll tell us he’s proven all there is to prove to the coaching staff.

Regardless, we’ll all be keeping an eye on him during at least the first quarter of Saturday’s preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Will Lane continue to tear apart cornerbacks standing in front of him, or will he go silent? It’s up to him to answer the call.
