The Baltimore Ravens are in a deep search for their next head coach. They have 15 candidates up to this point, and have conducted 10 interviews. They’re taking their time with the process, especially since many potential targets are still in the playoffs. However, it seems like they’ll have to start moving a bit quicker.
The New York Giants hired Baltimore’s former head coach, John Harbaugh, marking the first hiring of the 2026 head coaching cycle. Harbaugh was the hottest candidate, and it shouldn’t be a shock that he got a new job this quickly, but with hirings getting underway, the Ravens may have to start narrowing their list down.
Owner Steven Biscitotti and general manager Eric DeCosta helped clear the smoke on the expectations of their next head coach on Tuesday. Bisciotti mentioned he’s intrigued by the more experienced candidates who may have been fired, but have risen back to the top of the candidates. With that information, one ESPN reporter may have nailed it with his prediction for the Ravens’ coaching vacancy.
Ravens tied to former Browns head coach
ESPN’s Dan Graziano dropped his latest predictions for the current job openings. For Baltimore, he believes former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is the man for the job. Graziano wrote:
“The Ravens know Stefanski from having played against his Browns teams for the past six years (Baltimore was 8-4 against Stefanski-coached Cleveland teams), and Stefanski is a popular candidate on this circuit.”
“Having Lamar Jackson and a winning culture in place makes Baltimore the most appealing landing spot among the current openings. Stefanski had 13 different starting QBs in Cleveland, but he would get a true franchise passer in Jackson in Baltimore.”
Stefanski would be a strong fit in Baltimore. He’s among the best offensive minds in the game, and he could bring the most out of Lamar Jackson and the Ravens’ offense after an inconsistent 2025 campaign.
Obviously, Stefanski’s offenses have not been prolific in the past few years, and his Browns as a whole have struggled. However, he hasn’t had enough talent recently. When that talent is there, Stefanski has proved he can get it done.
In 2020 and 2023, Stefanski brought the Browns to the playoffs, earning Coach of the Year honors during both seasons. From 2020 to 2023, he built some competitive offenses, and his rushing attack was especially excellent; it’s his bread and butter. With Baltimore, his ability to win on the ground would only be amplified.
As of now, there haven’t been many reports indicating the direction that the Ravens may be leaning, but with Jackson being involved in the coaching search, signing an offensive-minded coach like Stefanski could make some sense.
