As the Baltimore Ravens gear up for training camp, it’s hard to ignore what’s going on in the pass rush room. The top of the group looks electric—there’s no debating that. However, the final spot in the rotation might be up for grabs.

If you base it off experience, it’s likely Adisa Isaac’s spot to lose. He’s done almost nothing to earn it, though, as injuries have taken a toll on the early stages of his career. That could certainly open the door for an unproven guy to make a statement and launch himself into the 53-man roster conversation ahead of the regular season.

Given the situation, Kaimon Rucker feels like an obvious choice to keep an eye on during training camp. He could only make the practice squad last year, but this time around, plans might change.

Kaimon Rucker could crash Baltimore Ravens’ pass rush rotation

When you look at the Ravens’ outside linebacker unit, the top-four players are set in stone. Trey Hendrickson was signed to be the lethal pass rusher this team has lacked over the years; Tavius Robinson is a reliable, versatile piece; and young defenders Mike Green and Zion Young bring a relentless motor off the edge. The fifth man, on the other hand, isn’t a sure thing.

Rucker has to be one of the top names in that battle. He’s got a year of experience under his belt on the practice squad, and although he never got a game-day call-up in 2025, that time spent on the field at practice may give him a slight edge. I mean, Isaac has barely seen the field, including almost zero time last year due to an elbow injury, and Ethan Burke is entering the fray as an undrafted rookie.

It also helps that Rucker had a strong showing last preseason. He tallied five total tackles, 0.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery. That’s not exactly elite production, but it’s encouraging signs that could do him before the pass rush battle really starts heating up.

The Ravens could shoot for upside with Rucker, too. They obviously liked what he showed in his rookie campaign, and dating back to his collegiate career at North Carolina, he’s been impressive. Across 58 games, Rucker had a very strong 22 sacks and 38.5 tackles for loss.

Things could take a quick turn if Baltimore opts to sign a veteran pass rusher to smooth out their rotation. People have speculated that a move like that might come ahead of the preseason, and it’d make some sense, given how bad the group was last year. Jadeveon Clowney has been a rumored name that may draw interest in that scenario.

If there’s a late arrival, that almost definitely would spell an end to Rucker’s active roster chances. Thankfully for him, at this point, he should be sneaking into roster talks. He’s still got an uphill climb, but it’s one that may quickly favor him if he puts on a masterclass throughout training camp and preseason.
