On Wednesday morning, the Baltimore Ravens made some seemingly minor roster moves as they waived undrafted free agent Trevonte Sylvester to sign Skylar Thompson, and they designated CJ Okoye as an IPP (international) exempt player. However, the Ravens now have one open roster spot even after they make the signing of Calais Campbell official.

Is Eric DeCosta on the verge of making another splash after an already splendid offseason? It certainly seems possible. Without a doubt, one signing that would make sense would be bringing back Jadeveon Clowney, who had a solid one-year stint with the Ravens in 2023.

DeCosta has already reunited with two former players this offseason by signing Campbell and John Simpson. I don't think any fan would complain if Clowney became the third player to return to Baltimore.

Signing Jadeveon Clowney would be logical for the Baltimore Ravens

Ravens fans have speculated about bringing Clowney back throughout the offseason, given their need for extra pass rushing. Sure, the Ravens have already upgraded their front-seven in a massive way by signing Trey Hendrickson and Campbell, along with drafting Zion Young in the second-round. Regardless, you can never have too many front-seven players, especially after last season and given Jesse Minter's knack for defense.

Additionally, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that some of Clowney's former teams are interested in reuniting with him. Undoubtedly, Garafolo's report adds fuel to the fire of a possible Clowney-Ravens reunion.

Clowney is aging at 33, but he is still an impactful pass rusher, recording 8.5 sacks last season. Furthermore, he posted the second-best PFF pass-rush grade of his career with the Dallas Cowboys in 2025. As such, it's clear that Clowney can still play a quality role on a winning team despite his age.

After a disastrous season where the Ravens ranked 30th in total sacks, DeCosta has done everything possible to ensure this won't be the case again. Fans wondered if DeCosta was done upgrading the roster after the draft, and then the Ravens swooped in and added Campbell. Thus, it wouldn't be shocking if DeCosta made another move, especially since signing Clowney won't break the bank.

With Minter's brilliant schemes, paired with the Ravens' roster upgrades, they already feel poised for a defensive surge, and landing Clowney could solidify this.

Ultimately, to maximize their Super Bowl chances, the Ravens must remain aggressive and continue to double down on their newly ferocious defense. There's simply no reason not to pursue a reunion with Clowney, and before long, fans might see another familiar face back in Charm City.
