The Baltimore Ravens are lucky to have an electric offensive duo that possesses a seamless connection. Lamar Jackson and Zay Flowers are always on the same page, and you can count on them to dominate opposing defenses weekly.
Entering this offseason, both were coming up on extension talks, and the Ravens have gotten one of them under wraps for the foreseeable future, extending Flowers on a four-year, $140 million deal. Hopefully, extending Jackson’s best friend can influence the QB in his own negotiations.
It could go both ways, too. Flowers recently made it clear that he wants Jackson to throw him the football for the rest of his career. That may force the Ravens' hand in a way.

Baltimore Ravens should grant Zay Flowers his wish with Lamar Jackson extension
The Lamar Jackson contract talks should really be an easy decision for Baltimore. When you just paid your top wide receiver $140 million, it might be wise to listen to him and pay his quarterback. And well, it also doesn’t hurt that the quarterback in question is a two-time MVP.
If we’re being honest, these Jackson negotiations should’ve been done by now. The hope was to get it done before the 2026 regular season, but after reworking his deal, it seems like we’ll be trending toward another year without a Jackson extension. It sucks that it’s taking this long.
It does take two to tango, and contract conversations with a player of Jackson’s caliber can always be a bit more difficult since he’s going to demand such a (rightfully) high price tag. Maybe the Flowers extension can make that tango go smoother. That goes for both parties.
The Ravens’ front office needs to be working more frantically, though. You can never take a future Hall of Famer for granted, but what’s even more important is the chemistry between Jackson and Flowers.
Simply put, Baltimore may never have a duo like Jackson and Flowers again—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime pairing. Players like Jackson don’t come around often; in fact, they never really came around before him. As for Flowers, we know how much trouble the franchise has had finding their WR1, and they may have found their best wideout of all time in Flowers.
You know that Jackson and Flowers are going to bring the best out of each other, too. Just as Flowers gets open consistently for his quarterback (averaging a tremendous 3.5 yards of separation in 2025), Jackson possesses elite ball placement to almost always put the ball in Flowers’ hands. The offense can be unstoppable when the two are clicking.
The point of all this is to say: if the Ravens want to make the most of their lucrative investment in Flowers, they need to follow it up with a Jackson deal.
Flowers is at his absolute best when Jackson is in his corner. They can’t afford to invest in a Pro Bowl-level player like Flowers and not retain the quarterback that makes him so special. You can’t tear those two apart.
