Stock up: Pernell McPhee
Pernell McPhee has by and large had a good training camp, but didn’t show a whole lot against the 49ers in the first preseason game. Against the Cowboys, however, he showed that he belongs as a package pass rusher on this defense. McPhee collected the only sack that the Ravens recorded Saturday night after laying a vicious hit on Cowboy’s quarterback Brandon Weeden.
Not only that, but McPhee also racked up two quarterback hits and two solo tackles, showing that he has the ability to be a disruptive presence among a talented linebacker group. And to those following McPhee through camp, this is neither a shock nor a surprise. He has earned a place in the rotation, at least as a pass rush specialist.
