Torrey Smith is undoubtedly the best wide receiver that the Ravens have ever drafted. He has good size, great speed, and the ability to take the ball the distance every time he gets a reception. Drafting Smith was definitely a hit by the Ravens. I’m sure he will continue to produce for the 49ers and be one of the league’s top wide receivers next season.

Sources say that the Ravens have invested a lot of time in evaluating wide receivers this season. Only time will tell whether they will take the risk drafting one of them in the first round. I think it’s unlikely considering the presence of pass-heavy, pro style offenses in college football and the way receivers are more prepared coming into the pro game these days.

There is a lot of talent and good depth at the receiver position in this year’s draft, so I see the Ravens going after defense in the early rounds and maybe picking up a receiver in rounds three or four.  Let’s hope they can finally find gold after striking out time and time again across their history.
