2011 NFL Mock Draft
With the 2010 NFL Draft grades in the books, it’s time to take a sneak peak at the 2011 Draft before Todd McShay beats us to it. *Draft order is based on 2010 Schedules and team’s “on paper” rosters. Obviously it is purely speculative and subject to extreme change, that’s why we play the game right? 1. Buffalo Bills – Jake Locker QB (Washington) The Bills failed to address left tackle and quarterback this off-season, which means they’ll likely struggle again next year. Locker may be able to turn things around for them for 2011, as the most talented and [...]
Blog News & Ravens Notes: 4/27
Since there’s no new episode of Lost tonight, I’ve decided to grace you all with my presence in the form of a blog update. There’s about to be a decent amount of stuff happening with the site, so to prepare you for the smallish changes, I’m making these announcements. Announcement #1: Look out for some very exciting posts at the end of the week. Over the weekend, I will be posting multiple versions of a Q&A about the Draft that I’ve organized with several other Ravens bloggers. The full list isn’t finalized, but when it is, I’ll be sure to [...]
Bargain Bin: Sergio Kindle
Going into the 2010 NFL Draft, many draft specialists and NFL analysts projected outside linebacker Sergio Kindle to go in the early to late first round. They had him going to Miami at #12, 13th to the 49ers, and the farthest I saw him drop in the mock drafts was to #23 where he was projected to become a Packer. Scouts Inc rated him as a 92, the 3rd best OLB in the whole draft, and the highest rated player taken in the second round. Click “Continue Reading” to read Casey’s analysis of Kindle and why he was such a [...]
Watch List Results
Something I took great pride in doing during the weeks leading up to this year’s Draft was maintaining the EbonyBird.com Ravens Watch List. It can still be referenced from the top page bar, but will soon be replaced. Basically it was a speculative list of who the Ravens may select in the draft. Compiled from mock drafts, reports on visits and just common sense, I put together the list, which became quite sizable by the time the Draft started. So, now that the picks are in and the process is over for this season, here is how the Watch List [...]
AFC North Draft Grades
Baltimore Ravens Grade: A – Best Value: Sergio Kindle OLB (Texas) in Round 2, Art Jones DE (Syracuse) in Round 5 Ozzie Newsome made something out of nothing, again. Upon entering the draft with no 3rd or 4th round pick, he was able to trade back 18 spots to acquire not only a 3rd and 4th but an extra 2nd as well. He then went and got first round talent and what many consider to be the best outside linebacker prospect in Sergio Kindle, and a borderline round one talent in Terrence Cody. However he had fans scratching their heads [...]
Ravens Draft Grade
Because of a busy night, I may not be able to post all I want (or anything other than this) tonight. Tomorrow look for these posts: How the draft picks will fit into the team and what their roles may be How our watch list turned out Possible undrafted free agents the Ravens might go after This draft will be very memorable, and not just for the Ravens. Several teams picked guys who they think could be franchise cornerstones, and many managed to pick guys later than they thought they could. The Ravens traded out of the first round, but [...]
Round 4-7, Who To Look For
So we tried this yesterday and it worked pretty well. When listing the names the Ravens we would likely be targeting yesterday, we had Sergio Kindle as our number one and Terrence Cody as our number two. Of course we meant for them to both be options for us at 43, and certainly didn’t expect both of them to land with us, however you can never under estimate Ozzie Newsome. Let’s try it again today, although with more rounds and lower ranked prospects it should be way more difficult to predict. 1. Perrish Cox CB (Oklahoma State) First round talent [...]
The Ravens Get Both Of Their Guys
It’s been a very solid two hours in Owings Mills. After trading the #25 pick in the first round for a 2nd, 3rd and 4th, the Ravens’ management was looking to make a splash tonight and add players who will make a big impact on the team. If Ozzie Newsome and Co. are the ones judging their picks, they’ve certainly done that. Click “Continue Reading” to see how the Ravens drafted their top two targets of Day 2 right after each other.
Round 2. The Next…Round.
Well I walked right into that title. There is definitely a feeling of disappointment this morning amongst Ravens fans, after passing on Kyle Wilson, Devin McCourty, Patrick Robinson, Jared Odrick AND Dan Williams. However let’s look at the bright side, the Ravens now have a 3rd and 4th round pick again, and pick twice tonight. Not to mention there is a ton of first round talent still available. Let’s take a look at some of the prospects that Ozzie Newsome and company may be targeting today. Click “Continue Reading” to see six players that the Ravens may go after in [...]
Ravens Don’t Need To Draft A Receiver
You’ve seen it in my Ravens-specific mock drafts and you’ve heard it in other places. Even though they’ve added Donte Stallworth and Anquan Boldin, many people predict that the Ravens will add another receiver in the later rounds of this draft. I’ve been one of those people, saying first that Mardy Gilyard in the 2nd round would be a good pick, and more recently, have suggested Freddie Barnes out of Bowling Green in the 5th round. What I’ve come to realize though, is two reasons why the Ravens don’t need to, and really shouldn’t draft a receiver this weekend. Click [...]
