Matt Campbell:

Our first, and certainly not last, dip into the College Football ranks starts with Iowa State’s Head Coach Matt Campbell. While Iowa State is certainly not a high pedigree of football success, Campbell’s track record shows that he’s a winner.

More from Ebony Bird

Campbell, who is defensive minded, has turned programs such as Toledo and Iowa State into annual bowl teams. Campbell is a young, fresh mind who has earned the respect of his players and is trending towards major success. Believe it or not, at the conclusion of the 2018 College Football season, Campbell will be an incredibly hot name to take over as another, more prestigious team’s Head Coach. Hell, Ohio State could call him if Urban Meyer were to “step down.” Perhaps a jump to the NFL could sway Campbell towards Charm City.

What better way to get his attention than with the Ravens defense? Baltimore is littered with defensive talent and has been a historically dominant defensive team. While the defense is slipping in a major way the past few weeks, the unit remains undeniably talented. There are plenty of defensive minded coaches who would love to work with what Baltimore possesses, and it shouldn’t be a surprise if Campbell is one of those guys.

The Ravens have never had a Head Coach who values defense the way that Matt Campbell does. His reign would usher in a completely different perspective than the one that fans are used to seeing. Moving from John Harbaugh to Matt Campbell would be an incredibly underrated move.
