Brian Billick Fired

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Just one day after finishing the season with a 5-11 record and the franchise’s worst losing streak, Brian Billick has been fired as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. Calling it the toughest decision he’s had to make as owner, Steve Bisciotti said he just “changed his mind” just weeks after Billick announced that he would return as coach in a press conference. A time table has not been established on when a new head coach will be named. Now that the ego has left the building, players, fans and the front office can set their sights on a decent [...]

Low Five For the Baltimore Ravens

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Baltimore Ravens had the look of a playoff-bound team in their season-finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. With second and third-stringers in a key offensive and defensive positions, the team moved the ball effectively on offense, and forced turnovers on defense. But the look would only feel good to Ravens fans who have felt less than good throughout the team’s 5-11 campaign. They were able to hang on against the division winning Steelers for a 27-21 home victory, and conclude the season with some respectability outside of almost defeating the New England Patriots. Reserve players appeared not out [...]

Ravens ‘Goof’ Comes Off Roof, Lands in Jail

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Ron Stack, a local man who made a name for himself by camping out on the roof of a Baltimore bar awaiting a Ravens victory, gave up his protest on Christmas day, and landed in jail earlier today. The 41-year-old was arrested for failure to pay child support in Baltimore County, according to Baltimore City police officials. Stack, who had made a number of appearances on local television stations as a result of his stunt, was identified and reported to police by a woman claiming to be the mother of his 19-year-old son. Who makes out worse in this situation? [...]

Wondering About the Ravens’ Ageless Wonders

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

By now you’ve heard that most of the Baltimore Ravens will be sitting out the season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers. What little pride there would’ve been to play for was ripped to shreds in the loss to the Miami Dolphins two weeks ago, and now comes the painstaking process of looking towards the future. Despite what will be a high draft choice, the best GM in the business, and a slew of emerging talent at several critical positions, there are still dramatic needs at the most critical of positions, namely quarterback and head coach. But more than the talk  [...]

Troy Smith Gets the Nod

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

In the latest installment of the ‘Supplanting Kyle Boller’ drama, Heisman Trophy winner and Ravens rookie Troy Smith will make his first NFL start this Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Brian Billick announced yesterday. Still feeling affects from a concussion he suffered in last Sunday’s game against the  Miami Dolphins, Boller has been unable to practice with the starting team this week.  It is unclear whether he will be able to fill the back up role either, as he is still suffering headaches and is sensitive to light. Might appear to be two weeks to late for Billick [...]

Kyle Boller’s “Journal”

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the NFL Players’ Association website has a special section where their members can keep online journals, or blogs as the Internets commonly refer to them. Imagine the bigger surprise when I found our favorite quarterback Kyle Boller has been getting his diary on for quite a while now. Check the sample on Boller discussing the offense holding up it’s end of the bargain. When you have a defense like ours–you turn the ball over, and they hold inside the red zone–that’s big. That says, “Hey, offense, let’s go.” These guys have our back, [...]

Are The Baltimore Ravens the Worst Team in the NFL?

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

And I’m not just asking this because they lost to the only winless team in the league last Sunday. Number for number, drive for drive, there may not be a worse team in the league right now. Consider this: Records- Only the Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, St. Louis Rams, and Atlanta Falcons have records as bad or worse than the Ravens. But a closer look at the numbers reveals that the Ravens currently have the league’s longest losing streak, and the worst conference record at 1-10. The Dolphins’ win put their [...]

The Day After

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

Ray Lewis has joined most of the M*A*S*H unit with a dislocated finger, but he’ll play on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. Kyle Boller got his bell rung, and most of the city wants him to sit, but he will get the start on Sunday at quarterback. Brian Billick is still the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. How do you think we’re doing?

Not Surprising- Dolphins 22, Ravens 16

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

Despite the glimmer of future hope shone by Troy Smith, darkness settled in yet again on the Baltimore Ravens in the Sunshine State, as the Miami Dolphins staved off infamy and pulled out a 22-16 overtime victory. There were far more negative surprises than positive. Ray Lewis’ broken hand, Kyle Boller’s concussion, and Matt Stover’s first career miss of an overtime field goal attempt come to mind. On the bright side, Troy Smith has shown an ability and confidence to lead an offense for the second week in a row, and if anything will preserve head coach Brian Billick’s tenure [...]

5 Reasons Why Dolphins Fans Want Baltimore To Win

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Sunday is a critical game this week for the Ravens and the Dolphins, as one team battles for relevancy, and the other for respect. I had the opportunity to speak with Brian Miller, the lead writer over at the official FanSided blog for the Miami Dolphins, PhinPhanatic.com, and he had the great idea of exchanging the top 5 reasons why our fans would want the other team to win. Check out why I’m rooting for the Dolphins at PhinPhanatic.com, but first, check out why Brian will be rooting for the Ravens this Sunday. 5: It’s been too long since we [...]
