Flacco, Ryan, and Now Sanchez?
Last year, the first year coach and rookie quarterback combo was brought to life by our Ravens (John Harbaugh and Joe Flacco), who made it all the way to the AFC Championship game, and the Falcons (Mike Smith and Matt Ryan) who made it to the playoffs. This year another combo has sprung to America’s attention, the Jets under the leadership of first year coach Rex Ryan and rookie standout QB Mark Sanchez. We are only three games into the season, but the Jets seem to be no joke defeating the likes of the New England Patriots, and the AFC’s [...]
Blog News: Contests & Award Nomination
A break from the Ravens coverage for some blog announcements. I’ve been emailed about a contest this past week, and one could get you Super Bowl tickets. Enter on their official website, and you can win a trip to the Super Bowl, chances to meet you favorite Ravens and other prizes, like DIRECTV Sunday Ticket and other DIRECTV products. What A Day For Ravens Fans
Ravens 34, Browns 3. What a nice win yesterday. This is the first time in Ravens history that the team has scored 30 points in 3 consecutive victories, and I bet it’s also the first time in Ravens history that a QB has had a QB rating over 95 in 3 consecutive games (95.8, 96.6, 111.6). After two games of allowing too many points, and allowing the other teams’ QBs to make the secondary look silly, the defense really pulled it together. Four interceptions, only 186 total yards of offense allowed, and only giving up 34 yards on the longest [...]
Week Three Predictions
Sorry that I am a little late with this post, but alas here I am telling you who to put your money on for these week 3 matchups. Due to the fact that I am in a hurry to get to the Ravens game, I won’t be making my funny comments after my picks. I know your heart just sunk, but maybe the Browns getting bulldozed by us will make you feel better. Casey’s Picks, Joe’s Picks- WAS @ DET- Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins* GB @ STL- Green Bay Packers, Green Bay Packers SF @ MIN- Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Vikings [...]
No Live Blog Today
Again, I will say that there is no live blog today. I’ve been incredibly busy with anything you can think of. Tonight, I will have a recap posted, but not being able to watch the game, it will be my impressions from the radio broadcast. Tomorrow I will have some more details on the two announcements made in the signature of yesterday’s post, plus two contests that I got emails about. So, check in tonight and tomorrow for more.
Q&A With Dawg Pound Daily
Sorry I’ve been slow this week, things have been busy, and will also be busy tomorrow, so there will be no live blog, sadly. Steve at Dawg Pound Daily, FanSided’s Browns blog, asked to do a Q&A with me about tomorrow’s game, so here are my responses to his questions. I sent him a few questions, he hasn’t responded yet. Q: The Ravens currently have one of the best offenses in the NFL, and Joe Flacco obviously has a lot to do with that success. What adjustments has he made in his second season to improve upon that impressive rookie [...]
Around The Blogosphere: 9/23
A Browns-hating post will go up tomorrow, but for now, enjoy the smorgasbord of Ravens-related links I will provide here. Finally some respect from the national media for the Ravens. ESPN ranks the Purple Birds #1 in their latest NFL Power Rankings, after being #10 last week. Keyshawn Johnson still thinks that the receivers are bums. The Sporting News has an article about Erik Mangini sticking to Brady Quinn as his starter for this weeks game vs the Ravens. (YES!) The Ravens made a couple of moves yesterday, trading Prescott Burgess to the Patriots for a conditional 7th-round pick, meaning [...]
Week 2 Impressions
I like this format for game recaps, because I get tired of the normal, blabby prose-style reviews of games, and think it’s better to give some nice, short points. Let me know if you prefer the long, boring style. I said this during the live blog, and I’ll say it again. Joe Flacco looks like a legitimate NFL QB. Not just his arm and his poise, but just the way he stands in the pocket and the way he throws the ball. Last year he often looked uneasy, like the freshman who is starting on the Varsity team. This year, [...]
