Ravens 2011 Draft Review
Two James Smiths. Two linemen dominant in their collegiate careers but on different sides of the ball. And three solid back-ups to learn from the Ravens veterans. In the 1st Round, the Ravens added Jimmy Smith, a “shut-down” corner who’s turning his life around. The more I think about Jimmy being a Raven, the more I like imagining him in the purple and black on Sundays. In the 2nd Round, they got a speedy local prospect in Torrey Smith who was drafted to help take the top off the defense. T. Smith already showed his outstanding character by sticking up for the other Smith during [...]
The Baltimore Ravens have made their eighth selection of the 2011 NFL draft: Anthony Allen RB Georgia Tech Round 7, Pick 22 (225th Overall)(From Eagles) Allen is a big, power back that will run over tacklers and move the chains. He will not break any huge plays but should be a nice compliment to Ray Rice. He’s a tough player that could be a short yardage back, but doesn’t have a lot of agility to use in space.
The Baltimore Ravens have made their fifth round selections of the 2011 NFL draft: Chykie Brown CB Texas Round 5, Pick 33 (164thOverall)(Compensatory Selection) The Ravens add a cornerback that is great in covering deep routes. However, his ability in tackling and run support has been questioned. Pernell McPhee Defensive End Mississippi State Round 5, Pick 34 (165th Overall)(Compensatory Selection) McPhee is a bigger end who should contribute in the run stopping game. Doesn’t have great speed getting off the snap and lacks consistency.
The Baltimore Ravens have made their forth selection of the 2011 NFL draft: Tandon Doss WR Indiana Round 4, Pick 26 (123rd Overall) Baltimore adds another wide receiver to help add some explosiveness to the passing game. Tandon Doss was a early second round prospect that slipped into the 4th round.

Baltimore Ravens’ 2011 Draft Day 3
Today, the Baltimore Ravens look to finish the draft strong. They’re entering the third day with five picks: Round 4, Pick 26 (123) Round 5, Pick 33 (164)(Compensatory Selection) Round 5, Pick 34 (165)(Compensatory Selection) Round 6, Pick 15 (180)(From Rams) Round 7, Pick 22 (225)(From Eagles) Ozzie Newsome, The Ravens’ GM, has talked about some possible trades today where he will attempt to get back the pick lost in the trade to the Philadelphia Eagles during round 3. This is a crucial part of the draft where superstars will be born in the most surprising of places. Check back [...]
The NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell did not order the Chicago Bears to give the Baltimore Ravens their fourth round pick, but he did suggest they do so. The Bears will obviously not do so, but this controversy should inform all teams on the potential consequences of making late trades.
The Baltimore Ravens have made their third selection of the 2011 NFL draft after trading their 6th round pick (191 Overall) to the Philadelphia Eagles so they could move up five spots: Jah Reid OT Central Florida Round 3, Pick 21 (85th Overall) Baltimore adds a tackle that may be able to help fill the void left by Jared Gaither. The Ravens can put Reid at RT while leaving Oher on the left side to protect the blindside. Tackles are thin this year and he could definably start at Right Tackle
The Baltimore Ravens have made their second selection of the 2011 NFL draft: Torrey Smith WR Maryland Round 2, Pick 26 (58th Overall) Baltimore upgrades their receiving corp with local Marylander Torrey Smith. Smith reminds me of Roddy White and should shine on the Ravens roster. The Ravens add two Smiths in the first two rounds and they hope that both Smiths will make an big impact this season.
